Boston, MA (My Sportsbook) - In the case of three men accused of attacking Boston Celtics swingman Paul Pierce, jurors failed to reach a verdict Thursday. Judge Charles Spurlock sent jurors home and they were instructed to return Friday morning to continue deliberations. The jury deliberated for about 2 1/2 hours on Wednesday before returning Thursday morning. On Monday, Pierce was on the stand before the court adjourned for the day. Pierce did not describe any details of the incident, in which he was stabbed eight times and suffered a collapsed lung. Anthony Hurston, William Ragland and Trevor Watson, all Boston natives, have been accused of stabbing Pierce and hitting him over the head with a champagne bottle in a club on September 25, 2000. However, the defense maintains that Pierce has never been able to positively identify his attackers. Witnesses have said there were as many as 20 people involved in the melee at the club that night. Despite being seriously injured in the attack, Pierce led the Celtics in scoring during the 2000-01 campaign with a 25.3 points per game average.
