Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - New York Yankees lefthander Andy Pettitte conditionally filed for free agency on Monday. Pettitte, who compiled a 13-5 record and a 3.27 ERA last season, is waiting to see if the team decides to exercise his $11.5 million option for 2003. His contract calls for the Yankees to notify him of their decision by November 15. If New York declines the southpaw's option for next season, it would pay a $2 million buyout and allow Pettitte to explore options with any team. Pettitte has a lifetime mark of 128-70 with a 3.93 earned run average and 1,095 strikeouts in 1584 1/3 innings.
