Buffalo, NY (My Sportsbook) - The explosive
Boston Bruins shoot for their third straight win tonight when they visit the
Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.
Boston is coming off consecutive home blowouts of Ottawa and Edmonton, and is 3-0-0-1 in its last four games overall. On Saturday the B's pounded the Senators, 6-1, and they followed that effort up with a 6-1 afternoon triumph over the Oilers on Monday.
During the Veterans' Day matinee, Brian Rolston scored twice to lead Boston, which tallied three power-play goals for the second consecutive match. Glen Murray, Rob Zamuner, Bryan Berard and Jonathan Girard also found the net, while John Grahame finished with 20 saves.
Rolston scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season, which tie him for second on the team behind captain Joe Thornton, who has bagged six. Thornton, who chipped in two assists Monday, leads the team with 17 points as well.
Boston, 5-1-1-1 on road ice, plays three of its next four games, including tonight's, away from Beantown. The lone exception is Thursday's clash with the Islanders back at the FleetCenter.
Buffalo, meanwhile, will attempt to halt a three-game losing streak, and an eight-game winless slide (0-6-2). The Sabres haven't won since October 22, and things may have hit rock bottom with a 6-4 home loss to Atlanta on Saturday.
Jochen Hecht and Ales Kotalik scored first-period tallies to give the Sabres an early 2-0 lead, but the Thrashers tied things by first intermission and scored twice more in each of the last two frames.
J.P. Dumont and Chris Gratton also scored for Buffalo, which was without top defenseman Alexei Zhitnik, who served the first of his two-game suspension. Zhitnik was handed the punishment for a kneeing incident during last Thursday's loss to Carolina.
The Sabres, 2-3-1 on friendly ice, play the second installment of a three-game homestand tonight. The set concludes Friday versus Toronto.
Boston went 3-1-1 against Buffalo last season, and is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings overall. The Bruins have won in four of their last five trips to HSBC Arena.
