East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - The
New Jersey Devils will host the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim tonight in the first meeting between the two since a seven-player trade in the offseason.
The Devils acquired forward Jeff Friesen, defenseman Oleg Tverdovsky, and right wing Maxim Balmochnykh from the Mighty Ducks in exchange for right wing Petr Sykora, defenseman Mike Commodore, goaltender Jean-Francois Damphousse, and forward Igor Pohanka.
Sykora, who was part of Jersey's famed "A-Line" with Patrik Elias and Jason Arnott, has struggled on the west coast and has five goals and five assists in 15 games.
New Jersey, which has lost two of its last three, most recently fell, 6-3 to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
Brian Rafalski, Christian Berglund and John Madden each scored for the Devils, who have dropped two straight and three of their last four at the Meadowlands.
Martin Brodeur, who has played all 12 New Jersey games this season, finished with 15 saves. The Devils hadn't allowed more than three goals entering the contest.
Scott Niedermayer and Scott Gomez each had two assists for New Jersey. Niedermayer is now one assist short of 300 for his career.
The Devils, who will wrap up their three-game homestand on Friday versus Montreal, are 4-3-0 at home this season.
Anaheim comes into Tuesday's contest on a three game winning streak and have won four of its last five to climb to .500 on the year (6-6-3-0).
After back-to-back wins over the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche, the Ducks blanked the upstart Minnesota Wild, 1-0, on Sunday.
Stanislav Chistov scored a first-period goal and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 26 saves for his ninth career shutout.
The three-game win streak is the longest for the Ducks since a six-game streak last January 23 through February 6.
New Jersey has dominated the series and has won seven of the last 10 matchups, including the last five in New Jersey.
