Nashville Predators will shoot for their second win of the season over the defending Stanley Cup champions tonight when they travel to Joe Louis Arena to battle the Detroit Red Wings.
The Preds, who are unbeaten in their last four over Detroit (2-0-2), defeated the Red Wings back on October 26 for their first win of the season.
Nashville gained its second win of the year on Sunday with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
Vladimir Orszagh scored the go-ahead goal with only 4:05 to play to lift the Predators to their first road win of the season (1-3-2-4).
Wyatt Smith, Jason York and David Legwand also scored for Nashville, which won for the first time in six games (1-2-1-2) overall.
Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves for the Predators, who improved to 1-9 this year in one-goal games.
Nashville will be wrapping up a seven-game road trip (1-2-1-2) tonight and will kick off a brief two-game homestand on Thursday versus Colorado.
The Red Wings enter Tuesday's tilt on the heels of a 2-1 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
Sergei Fedorov scored at 2:08 of overtime to lift the Red Wings to the win. Nicklas Lidstrom set up the winner and scored the tying goal for Detroit, which won for the first time in four games (1-2-1).
It was also the 11th regular-season overtime goal for Fedorov, tying him with Steve Thomas for the most in NHL history.
Detroit's Manny Legace stopped 33 shots, including five in overtime. Legace was playing in place of Curtis Joseph, who was sidelined with the flu. Joseph is expected to be back between the pipes tonight.
The Red Wings ended the game 1-for-7 on the power-play and have scored at least one goal in 13 of their last 14 games with the man-advantage.
Detroit will be playing the fourth installment of a five-game homestand (1-1-1) tonight and will close the set against Anaheim on Friday.
Nashville is winless in its last three in the Motor City (0-3-1) and are 1-9-1 in Detroit.
Four of the last seven meetings in this series have gone to overtime.
