Indianapolis, IN (My Sportsbook) - The Champ Car World Series announced fines and penalties stemming from actions by drivers both during and after Sunday's race at the Portland International Raceway. Bruno Junqueira and Paul Tracy each received fines of $10,000 for violation of Champ Car rule 2.8.8 (criticism of officials and personal demeanor). Tracy also got hit with a $5,000 fine for making objectionable gestures. Meanwhile, Junqueira and Tracy will each have 10 points held in abeyance for the remainder of the 2004 campaign pending no additional related infractions. Finally, Alex Tagliani was penalized two points, effective immediately, for violation of rule 2.8.5 (failure to follow the instructions of race officials). Tagliani remains in eighth place in the season standings with 61 points.
