Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Making his sixth straight start, Cristobal Huet turned aside 23 shots to notch his 18th career shutout, as the Chicago Blackhawks blanked the Ottawa Senators, 2-0, at the United Center.

Patrick Kane and Troy Brouwer lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, who have recorded a point in four straight games, going 3-0-1.

"It was a good team effort," Huet said.

Martin Gerber, who hadn't played since a loss to Carolina on November 7, was solid in defeat for the Senators, making 28 saves. Alex Auld had started the previous 11 games for Ottawa, which has dropped three of its last five games.

"They are a highly-skilled team and very quick with a lot of speed," Gerber said of the Blackhawks. "We couldn't capitalize on our opportunities."

Chicago took a 1-0 lead on the power play. With rugged forward Jarkko Ruutu in the box for the visitors, Kane gathered a feed from Patrick Sharp and drifted out of the far corner, before Ottawa's Antoine Vermette partially blocked the burgeoning star's attempt, causing the puck to flutter over a stunned Gerber 5:17 into the contest.

The Senators failed to score on a lengthy two-man advantage later in the opening stanza, and Chicago killed off a double minor for high-sticking in the second period to preserve the one-goal lead.

Huet stopped seven shots in the third period, and Brouwer's empty-net marker in the final minute sealed the victory for Chicago.
