Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Florida Marlins avoided going to arbitration with pitcher Josh Johnson, signing the right-hander to a one-year deal Friday. A story on the Marlins' website stated that MLB.com learned the deal is worth $1.4 million plus incentives. Johnson made his return to the mound in July of this past season, having undergone Tommy John surgery in August 2007. In 14 starts in 2008, he went 7-1 with a 3.61 earned run average, completing one game and posting 77 strikeouts and just 27 walks in 87 1/3 innings. In four seasons with the Marlins, the 24-year-old owns a 19-11 record in 53 games -- 43 starts -- with a 3.54 ERA.
