Kansas City, MO (My Sportsbook) - Erik Bedard tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings and David Newhan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three runs scored as Baltimore defeated Kansas City 10-1 in the opener of a four-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Miguel Tejada also had three hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Brian Roberts and Javy Lopez each finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, as the Orioles pounded out 13 hits to snap a two-game slide. Bedard (3-2) yielded just five hits and one walk while striking out three to win his second straight start. Byron Gettis and Matt Stairs each had two hits for the Royals, who suffered their fifth consecutive defeat.

Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Hank Blalock hammered a pair of homers and drove in three runs to lift the Texas Rangers over the Seattle Mariners, 8-5, in the opener of a four-game series at Safeco Field. Blalock ended 3-for-5 for the Rangers, who have won eight of nine. Alfonso Soriano, Mark Teixeira and Kevin Mench also homered for Texas, which has won seven in a row against the Mariners. Bret Boone went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer for the Mariners, who have dropped two straight and six of seven. Ricardo Rodriguez (1-0) tossed 3 2/3 innings of five-hit, one-run ball to earn the victory. Francisco Cordero pitched a one-hit ninth for his 23rd save of the season.
