Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - Two teams heading in different directions meet Wednesday when the
Dallas Mavericks battle the
Cleveland Cavaliers at Gund Arena.
The Mavs, off to the best start in franchise history, are the only unbeaten team in the NBA at 7-0. Their most recent victory came at home against Portland on Monday.
Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 26 points and Michael Finley added 21 as the Mavericks erased a halftime deficit and outlasted the Trail Blazers, 82-73, at AmericanAirlines Center.
Nowitzki grabbed 17 rebounds and collected a career-high six steals for Dallas, which also benefited from Shawn Bradley's game-high 18 boards.
Mavericks guard Nick Van Exel had arthroscopic knee surgery Monday and is expected to be out three-to-six weeks.
Meanwhile, the Cavs have dropped four in a row to fall to the cellar of the Central Division.
Cleveland is coming off a 95-75 loss at Indiana on Tuesday. Darius Miles led Cleveland with 19 points, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas was the only other Cavalier in double figures with 17.
The Cavs, who fell to 1-5 on the road this season, shot just 31 percent from the field while allowing the Pacers to shoot 51 percent.
Ricky Davis, Cleveland's leading scorer, had just two points and played six minutes before being benched by head coach John Lucas following a heated discussion between Davis and Bimbo Coles. Davis didn't come out of the locker room for the second half.
