Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - Free agent outfielder Willy Taveras signed a two-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. Terms of the deal, as reported on the Reds' website by MLB.com, were not disclosed. After spending the last two seasons in Denver, Taveras was not tendered a contract by Colorado for the 2009 season. The 27-year-old speedster hit .251 in 133 games for the Rockies last year, topping the majors with a career-high 68 stolen bases. Taveras is a career .283 hitter with seven homers, 109 RBI and 60 doubles in five seasons with Houston and Colorado. The Dominican native has swiped 169 bases in that span.
