New Orleans, LA (My Sportsbook) - The
Minnesota Timberwolves try to snap a two-game skid and register their first road win of the season when they travel to Louisiana to take on the
New Orleans Hornets tonight.
Minnesota is coming off a 91-75 setback at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs. Rasho Nesterovic led the Timberwolves with 16 points, while Kevin Garnett chipped in with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Troy Hudson scored 10 points for Minnesota, which shot only 36 percent from the field due to a smothering Spurs' defense.
San Antonio buried nine treys in the contest.
"We tried, but it seemed like every time we got momentum, they hit a three," said Rod Strickland.
The Timberwolves fell to 0-3 on the road this season and are now 6-24 all-time in San Antonio.
Minnesota has a 3-3 mark against Eastern Conference foes this season.
New Orleans saw its four-game winning streak snapped by the Detroit Pistons, 93-87, on Tuesday night.
Jamal Mashburn scored 17 for the Hornets -- 13 of which came in the first quarter. Baron Davis finished with 13 points and Jamaal Magloire added 12 to the losing effort.
"This was a statement game, and it is definitely worse to lose like this to the Pistons," Davis said. "We'll look back on this one and say we let it slip through our fingers because we didn't meet the challenge."
This season, the Hornets have a perfect 3-0 mark against teams from the Western Conference. New Orleans is a perfect 4-0 in their new edifice.
Minnesota captured both meetings between the teams last season and has won three straight on the heels of a four-game series slide. The Timberwolves are just 2-11 in the Hornets' gym, which was the Charlotte Coliseum until this season. The Hornets lead the all-time series 16-10.
