Eindhoven, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - PSV Eindhoven's quest for a fifth successive league title took another hit on Saturday as the club was held to a 0-0 draw at Philips Stadion by Twente. The result leaves PSV in fourth place, four points back of third-place Twente, and they could fall as many as 11 points off the league lead heading into January if leaders AZ Alkmaar get a home win over NEC on Sunday. It has been a forgettable first half of the season for Huub Stevens and his club as they have won just nine of 17 games in league play, while Twente boss Steve McClaren has his side playing its best soccer of the year as they entered Saturday's game having won their last five in the league. PSV carved out the first chance in the 18th minute from a corner kick as Jeremie Brechet's header was cleared off the line by Niels Wellenberg, only for Twente to respond six minutes later with a great chance of their own. Robbie Wielaert got into the box and set up a great look at goal for Marko Arnautovic, but his shot came back off the left post. The home side was then denied by the woodwork as Balazs Dzsudzsak slammed the ball off the crossbar with 10 minutes to play in the opening half, but it was as close as either side would come to scoring. Twente had the only real chance at breaking the deadlock in the second half when Cees Pauwe's cross skipped just past Arnautovic, leaving both teams to settle for a point. Graafschap and Heracles also finished without a goal, Willem II beat Sparta 3-2 as Arjan Swinkels broke the deadlock in the 58th minute and Volendam remains on the bottom after falling to Vitesse, 3-1.
