St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - Three players from the Seattle Mariners won Gold Glove awards Wednesday. First baseman John Olerud earned his second award as the top defender at his position. Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki and second baseman Bret Boone were honored for the second time. Olerud first earned the honor in 2000 and Suzuki won the award last season. Boone earned an NL Gold Glove with Cincinnati in 1998. Catcher Bengie Molina and outfielder Darin Erstad represent the World Series champion Anaheim Angels. Molina snapped the 10-year winning streak of Texas' Ivan Rodriguez. Erstad was selected for the first time. Rangers shortstop Alex Rodriguez won his first Gold Glove, ending the nine- year streak of Cleveland's Omar Vizquel. Oakland third baseman Eric Chavez and Minnesota outfielder Torii Hunter each won their second straight Gold Gloves. Texas pitcher Kenny Rogers won for the second time in three years. The awards, presented since 1957 by Rawlings, are voted on by managers and coaches. The voters may not select players on their own teams, and can vote only for players in their own league.
