Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The Chicago Cubs acquired catcher Damian Miller from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Miller, 33, was a 2002 All-Star selection for Arizona. He batted .249 with 11 homers and 42 runs batted in. The catcher had a National League best .997 fielding percentage, while committing only two errors last year. The six-year veteran has spent the last five seasons with Arizona, winning a World Series title in 2001. He was a member of the Minnesota Twins during his rookie campaign of 1997. For his career, which spans 492 games, Miller has a batting average of .269 with 50 homers and 207 RBI. In exchange the D-Backs will get pitcher David Noyce and outfielder Gary Johnson. Noyce, 25, spent all of 2002 with the Cubs' West Tenn (AA) affiliate, where he had 3-2 record with a 2.72 ERA in 53 outings. The lefthander was selected by Florida in the 12th round of the 1998 draft before being traded to the Cubs' organization in 2000 in a deal for Henry Rodriguez. The 26-year-old Johnson played for the same Double-A club while batting .257 with six homers and 45 RBI in 121 games. Johnson was originally a ninth-round selection of the Cubs in the 1997 draft. This was the first time that Arizona and Chicago were involved in a trade that dealt with a major league player.
