Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Kenny Perry and Rory McIlroy both made significant jumps in the world rankings following their wins on Sunday. Perry, 48, beat Charley Hoffman on the third playoff hole to win the PGA Tour's FBR Open and moved up six places to No. 9 in this week's rankings. McIlroy, the 19-year-old rising star from Northern Ireland, leaped 23 places to No. 16 after winning the Dubai Desert Classic for his first European Tour title. Tiger Woods, of course, remained No. 1 and was followed again in the rankings by Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh to complete the top five. Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson moved up one spot apiece to sixth and seventh, respectively, knocking Geoff Ogilvy down two places to eighth. Perry's leap to No. 9 dropped Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas, Lee Westwood, Ernie Els and Jim Furyk one place each to 10th through 14th. Justin Rose finished second to McIlroy in Dubai and moved up seven places to 15th. McIlroy was followed by Adam Scott, who dropped three spots to 17th, and Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink and K.J. Choi, who were all down two places to round out the top 20. |
