Nashville, TN (My Sportsbook) - Two nights after snapping a five-game winless streak, the
Colorado Avalanche seek their second straight victory when they visit the
Nashville Predators at Gaylord Entertainment Center.
Colorado, which was 0-3-1-1 during its skid, posted a 5-4 win over Columbus on Tuesday at the Pepsi Center. Milan Hejduk scored twice to lead the charge for the Avs, who battled back from a pair of one-goal deficits and fired 51 shots on net. Peter Forsberg, Radim Vrbata and Steve Reinprecht also tallied, while Patrick Roy made 31 saves, including 17 in the third period.
The triumph was the Avalanche's first at home this season, after an 0-4-3-1 start. The team has, however, yet to lose in regulation away from Denver, going 4-0-1-2 on the road.
Tuesday's game brought Roy closer to yet another National Hockey League goaltending record. The future Hall of Famer needs to play 50 minutes, 20 seconds to break Terry Sawchuk's all-time record of 57,194 career minutes. The achievement is expected to be put off, though, and David Aebischer is penciled in to start this evening. Roy will likely get the nod Friday in Dallas when the Avs resume their trek.
Nashville, meanwhile, defeated Colorado, 4-3, at the Pepsi Center on Sunday for its second win of the campaign, but fell right back to Earth with a 4-1 loss to Detroit two days later.
Martin Erat's power-play goal with 21 seconds left in the first period provided the Preds with a 1-0 lead, but that was all the offense Barry Trotz' club could muster. Goaltender Mike Dunham finished with 34 saves in the losing cause.

Sunday's victory over the Avs snapped a two-game series losing streak for the Predators, who are 2-4-1 in the last seven games between the clubs. Colorado is 2-0-1 in its last three trips to the Music City.
