Boston, MA (My Sportsbook) - Boston Red Sox outfielder Mark Kotsay may start the season on the disabled list after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his back. Kotsay had the surgery on January 29 in Los Angeles, performed by Dr. Robert Watkins. The procedure removed a displaced disc fragment, and while his timetable for return is uncertain, he may not miss much time during the regular season. Kotsay split last season between Atlanta and Boston, and hit .276 with six home runs and 49 runs batted in over 110 games. In 12 MLB seasons with Florida, San Diego, Oakland, Atlanta and Boston, Kotsay owns a lifetime .281 average with 109 homers and 609 RBI.
