San Diego, CA (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Padres on Tuesday traded Matt Bush, a former No. 1 draft pick, to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later or cash. The move comes after Bush was designated for assignment this past Thursday, as the pitcher was allegedly part of a drunken assault involving high school lacrosse players. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday that police in El Cajon were investigating allegations that on Wednesday, Bush was part of the incident at a nearby high school. Now the Padres, who selected him first overall in the 2004 draft out of high school, are cutting ties with Bush. Bush, 23, did not pitch in 2008 after undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery. He was initially drafted as a shortstop, but was converted to a pitcher in 2007 after struggling at the plate at the Single-A level.
