New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - While there was a host of movement at the top of the Associated Press women's college
basketball poll, the undefeated Connecticut Huskies stayed at the peak spot for a 12th straight week.
The Huskies (25-0) remain the only unbeaten team in either men or women's basketball and received all 45 first-place votes in addition to 1,125 points. Oklahoma (22-22) stayed at No. 2, but the poll took on a different look after that.
Auburn (25-1), Stanford (20-4) and Baylor (21-3) each moved up two spots to round out the top five in that order, as California (20-3) and Duke (20-3) fell from three and four, respectively, to sixth and seventh.
Cal fell following a 58-41 setback in Stanford on Saturday, while Duke's 75-60 loss at North Carolina last Monday was its second in its last five games. The school rebounded to defeat Clemson on Friday.
North Carolina's victory over Duke didn't translate into long-term success, as it was beaten four days later by Florida State and fell from eight to the No. 10 spot. That allowed Louisville to move to eight, with Maryland coming in next at No. 9.
Spots 11 through 15 are held by Florida State, Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Florida, which was ninth in last week's poll. The next five spots go to Kansas State, Xavier, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh and Ohio State, respectively.
Iowa State dropped to 21, and is followed by South Dakota State and Virginia, which fell from 17 to 23. Notre Dame came in at 24th and Arizona State was the lone newcomer at No. 25.
DePaul was the lone school to fall out of the top 25.
