Fort Myers, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Twins agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Luis Ayala on a one-year contract for the 2009 season Wednesday. Financial terms were not released. Ayala, 31, began last season with the Washington Nationals before being dealt to the Mets August 17. The veteran of five seasons posted a 2-10 record with nine saves and a 5.71 earned-run average over 81 appearances in 2008. He struck out 50 and walked 24 in 75 2/3 innings. In 339 career appearances with the Mets and Expos/Nationals organization, Ayala has a 28-34 record with a 3.44 ERA and 18 saves. In addition, the Arizona Diamondbacks claimed pitcher Bobby Korecky off waivers from the Twins.
