Fargo, ND (My Sportsbook) - North Dakota State has suspended quarterback Troy Jackson for the first two games of the 2009 season for possession of marijuana, NDSU head football coach Craig Bohl announced on Wednesday. "Possession of marijuana is a troubling and concerning offense. Troy is suspended for the first two games. He will need to follow the university student-athlete policy and will be reinstated after successful completion," said Bohl. Jackson pleaded guilty to a marijuana possession charge last week in Cass County District Court. He received a 12-month deferred sentence with 12 months of unsupervised probation. In three games last season, Jackson completed 3-of-6 passes for 24 yards after transferring from Los Angeles Valley College. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound senior will be able to participate in spring practice that is set to begin March 23. NDSU plays at Iowa State and at Sam Houston State to start the 2009 campaign.
