Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cleveland Indians and pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, the club's top draft pick this year, have agreed to a four-year contract with an option year worth four million dollars. The 23-year-old Guthrie was selected by Cleveland with the No. 22 overall pick in the June draft. The righthander, who went on a Mormon mission for two years, could have re-enrolled at Stanford earlier this week. If he had elected to go back to school, the Indians would have lost their rights to negotiate with him. Guthrie was the Pac-10's pitcher of the year in 2002. He went 13-2 with a 2.51 ERA and struck out 136 in 157 2/3 innings for the Cardinal.
