Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Johan Franzen to an 11-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is the second-longest contract in team history. Henrik Zetterberg signed a 12-year pact in January. "We are thrilled that Johan will remain a member of the Detroit Red Wings," said Red Wings general manager Ken Holland. "His production over the past year and a half, both regular season and playoffs, has been remarkable and we feel, at 29 years old, that he is just now entering the prime of his career. We look forward to having him as a part of our core unit in Detroit moving forward." Franzen, entering Saturday's action, has already set personal single-season marks of 34 goals, 25 assists and 59 points in 69 games. He had never previously bettered 27 goals or 38 points in any of his first three NHL seasons. In last spring's playoffs, the Swedish native notched 13 goals in 16 postseason games. He missed seven games during Detroit's run to the Stanley Cup title because of a concussion, but his 13 goals tied a franchise playoff record for most goals in one playoff season. Selected by the Red Wings with the 97th overall pick of the 2004 draft, Franzen has 83 goals and 60 assists for 143 points in 290 regular-season NHL games.
