Lakeland, FL (My Sportsbook) - The San Diego Padres acquired catcher Michael Rivera from the Detroit Tigers on Friday. In exchange, Detroit got outfielder Gene Kingsale. Rivera, 26, appeared in 39 games for the Tigers last season. He batted .227, hit one homer, and had 11 RBI. Rivera was first signed as a free agent by Detroit in 1997 after he was not drafted. The 26-year-old Kingsale was claimed off of waivers from Seattle on June 14, 2002. He averaged .278 with two homers and 28 RBI in 89 games with San Diego.
