New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Cincinnati Reds outfielder Wily Mo Peña was named the National League Player of the Week Monday for his efforts during the shortened period ending July 18. Peña hit .500 and led the National League with a 1.000 slugging percentage. In addition, he tied for the league lead with two home runs and six RBI. His on- base percentage of .563 ranked fifth, and his 24 total bases and batting average both ranked second. Other nominees this past week included: Charles Thomas and Chipper Jones of the Braves; Albert Pujols of the Cardinals; Jim Thome of the Phillies; Mark Loretta of the Padres; Shawn Green, Jayson Werth, Cesar Izturis and Eric Gagne of the Dodgers; and Cubs righthander Greg Maddux.
