Dallas, TX (My Sportsbook) - Dallas Stars center Mike Modano became the fifth American-born player to reach 1,000 career points during Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche. Modano assisted on Ulf Dahlen's first-period goal to reach the milestone. He made a pass from the left circle to Dahlen, who chased his own rebound behind the net and scored after skating back out in front. The other Americans with 1,000 career points are Joe Mullen, Pat LaFontaine, Jeremy Roenick and Phil Housley. In his 14th NHL season, Modano has posted eight goals and 15 assists in just 19 games. He has 424 goals and 576 assists in 965 NHL games, all with the Dallas/Minnesota franchise. Modano, the first overall pick of the 1988 draft, became the 64th player in NHL history to record 1,000 points and the 31st to do it with the same team.
