Baltimore, MD (My Sportsbook) - With leading three-year-old filly Rachel Alexandra committed to start in Saturday's Preakness Stakes, a wide open Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico Race Course has attracted a field of 10. Friday's 1 1/8 mile sister race to the Preakness has a purse of $150,000.
The 2-1 morning-line favorite is Ashland Stakes winner Hooh Why. The filly will start from the inside post with no jockey yet named to ride.
Owned by Derby Daze Farm and Mark Hoffman, Hooh Why is coming off a third place finish to Afleet Deceit in the Double Delta Stakes at Arlington Park. She won the Ashland at Keeneland last month after finishing third to Stardom Bound in the Santa Anita Oaks. Hooh Why, trained by Donna Dupuy, began the year at Santa Anita as the runner-up in the Sunshine Millions Oaks to Beltene.
In her 11 race career Hooh Why has never been off the board with lifetime earnings of $447,627, three wins and three second place finishes.
Trainer Jimmy Jerkens will send out 3-1 second choice Casanova Move in the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. Casanova Move, owned by Edward Evans, will be ridden by Jose Lezcano from post seven.
"I've never had a lot of luck in this race," Jerkens said from New York. "Fe Fi of Fum was in a couple years ago and ran horribly. This is probably the best chance I've had."
Casanova Move is coming off two straight runner-up finishes at Gulfstream Park to Justwhistledixie. Jerkens' filly was second in both the Bonnie Miss Stakes and Davona Dale in March. She has one win in nine career starts for $141,493.
"The thing is she's pretty tough," the trainer added. "She's only had one bad race and that was on soft turf as a two-year-old and she seems to be a little better stretching out. She seems to be doing good and I don't see any real standouts in there."
Don't Forget Gil, second in the Comely Stakes at Aqueduct last month, has been made the 9-2 third pick in the program. The filly will break from post eight with Rajiv Maragh riding.
Don't Forget Gil won the Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs in March and has three wins in seven lifetime starts for $231,867.
Here is the complete field for the Black-Eyed Susan in post position order with riders in parentheses: Hooh Why (No rider), 2-1; Payton D'Oro (Terry Thompson), 5-1; Combinate (Eric Camacho), 30-1; Stone Legacy (Kent Desormeaux), 10-1; Bon Jovi Girl (Jose Caraballo), 12-1; Stage Trick (Javier Castellano), 30-1; Casanova Move (Jose Lezcano), 3-1; Don't Forget Gil (Rajiv Maragh), 9-2; Oro Blanco (Jeremy Rose) 12-1 and Renda (Sebastian Madrid), 10-1.
