The Lakers were in the midst of their longest losing streak since the 1994-95 season before they bounced back with the victory.
Samaki Walker scored 12 points and ripped down 14 rebounds, while Robert Horry added seven of his nine points in overtime for the Lakers, who have won six of the last seven meetings with the Warriors.
Antawn Jamison scored 25 points, and Erick Dampier netted 19 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds for the Warriors, who have lost eight of their last nine games overall.
Horry hit a three-pointer to put LA ahead by one with 3:45 left in overtime. Golden State had a chance to capture the lead but Dampier missed a pair of free throws.
After Jason Richardson threw up a shot that missed badly, the Lakers got the rebound and ran the floor as Bryant found Horry for a layup, and Horry was fouled on the play. The Lakers retained possession and off of the inbounds, Bryant hit a jumper from the left corner with 1:34 left to give the Lakers a 93-87 lead.
Bryant hit a pair of free throws extending the lead to 95-88 with 1:04 left to play. Gilbert Arenas missed a three-point attempt and Horry got the rebound and was fouled. Horry then hit both foul shots to seal the victory.
Down by three late in the fourth, Golden State missed a three-point attempt by Arenas, but Jamison grabbed the offensive rebound and fed it to Richardson, who tied the score at 85-85 with 4.2 seconds left as he nailed a wide open three-pointer from the corner.
The Lakers in-bounded the ball in attempts to find Bryant, but Jamison ran over Bryant, who was trying to come off a screen, and there was no foul called on the play. The ball rolled out of bounds just before time expired, and Golden State was not able to get a shot off as the game went into overtime. Both players were slow to get up, as Bryant chipped a tooth, and Jamison needed to put a bandage over his left eye to protect a gash that developed. Both were able to stay in the contest.
The Warriors closed the fourth period with a 15-5 run to force the extra period.
