Toronto, Ontario (My Sportsbook) - Curtis Joseph returns to the city where he spent the last four years of his career tonight when his Detroit Red Wings kick off a four- game road trip against the
Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.
Joseph, who inked a three-year deal worth an estimated $24 million this past offseason with the Red Wings, posted a record of 133-88-27 with a 2.42 goals- against average in his time with the Leafs.
Toronto reached the Eastern Conference finals twice during Joseph's tenure, including a six-game loss to Carolina this past post-season.
However, his return could be delayed as head coach Dave Lewis was unsure on whether or not to start Joseph upon his return, as he was between the pipes in Friday's overtime win over the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.
Sergei Fedorov scored the game-winning goal with 21 seconds left in the extra session to give the Red Wings the 2-1 win.
Fedorov, who has netted the game-winner in the last three games, also tallied the game-winner against Boston on November 7 and Nashville on November 12 to lead the Wings to a three-game win streak.
The Russian sniper, who has six game-winners on the season, also placed himself in the NHL record books, as the tally was his 12th regular season overtime goal, a league record. Chicago's Steve Thomas has scored 11 times in the extra session.
Joseph made 25 saves on the night, including a post-to-post stop to rob Steve Rucchin. The 35-year-old Joseph has struggled in his first season in the Motor City and has posted a 6-4-2 record. If Joseph does not start, Manny Legace will be in the crease.
Brett Hull also scored for Detroit, which failed to register a power-play score for just the second time all season.
Toronto also comes into Saturday's tilt on a winning note after a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Friday.
Alexander Mogilny posted two goals to lead Toronto to the win. Ed Belfour collected 35 saves for the Maple Leafs, who won their second straight game after losing back-to-back contests.
Detroit is winless in its last three (0-1-2) visits to Toronto, but is 4-1-3 in its last eight trips.
Toronto, though, is 6-3-2 in the last 11 overall and 7-4-2 in the last 13.
