Owings Mills, MD (My Sportsbook) - The Baltimore Ravens and linebacker Terrell Suggs agreed to a six-year contract on Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Baltimore Sun is reporting the deal to be worth $63 million, with Suggs expected to receive $33 million in option and signing bonuses, the most for a defensive player in NFL history. A first-round pick in 2003, Suggs is coming off a stellar campaign, leading the club with eight sacks and notching 68 tackles in 16 games last season. The former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year also returned two interceptions for touchdowns and earned the third Pro Bowl berth of his career. "Getting a deal done with Terrell is consistent with our history of retaining our best Pro Bowl players, like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Jonathan Ogden, Todd Heap and Jamal Lewis," Ravens general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said. "Securing Terrell for six seasons gives us a premier pass-rusher whose ability to stop the run does not get enough credit." Suggs is currently second in franchise history with 53 career sacks, trailing only Peter Boulware's 70.
