Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - The
Atlanta Hawks look to extend their winning streak to four games and stay perfect at home when they battle the
Minnesota Timberwolves at Philips Arena Wednesday.
The Hawks captured their third straight win on Monday by downing the Toronto Raptors at home, 117-92.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim poured in 27 points on 12-of-15 shooting, despite sitting out the entire fourth quarter, to lead the Hawks to the blowout win. Jason Terry chipped in 11 points and nine assists for Atlanta, which improved to 4-0 at home on the season.
Dion Glover and Alan Henderson each scored 14 points off the bench as the Hawks used an explosive first half to put the Raptors away. Atlanta scorched the nets by shooting 64 percent in the first 24 minutes, and got 26 points from its bench while also outscoring Toronto 38-8 in the paint.
Atlanta is 3-3 against the West this season.
The T'wolves were able to pull out a 110-106 overtime victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday to win for just the second time in their last six games.
Kevin Garnett poured in 34 points and pulled down 22 rebounds to lead Minnesota. It was the second time this season Garnett had at least 20 points and 20 rebounds.
Gary Trent added 19 points while Kendall Gill and Troy Hudson collected 14 apiece.
Prior to the game, Minnesota guard Wally Szczerbiak was placed on the injured list with a sprained fifth toe on his left foot. Meanwhile, the club activated forward Joe Smith from the IL. Smith, who had been bothered by a groin injury, made his first appearance of the season and contributed 12 points in 19 minutes.
Minnesota is just 1-4 on the road this season and 3-5 against the Eastern Conference.
The T'wolves won both meetings with Atlanta last season and have claimed five straight overall. Minnesota has won two in a row at Atlanta, but posts just a 4-8 all-time mark in the Georgia capital.
