Indiana Pacers attempt to claim their eighth straight victory on Wednesday when they travel to Toronto to face the Raptors.
The Pacers are off to the best start in the franchise's NBA history at 8-1, and with a win Wednesday can match their best-ever start of 9-1 (1969) from their ABA days. The team's only loss this season came at New Jersey back on November 1.
Most recently, the Pacers held on for a 107-101 victory at Minnesota on Saturday, as Ron Mercer scored 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting off the bench.
Jermaine O'Neal added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Pacers. Ron Artest and Jamaal Tinsley each netted 17 points and Al Harrington chipped in with 14 for Indiana, which shot 49 percent (44-of-89) from the field.
Artest was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from November 11-17, averaging a team-high 20.3 points during the span.
The Pacers are 2-1 on the road this season and 5-1 against the Eastern Conference, including 3-0 within the Central Division.
The Raptors are riding a two-game losing streak and are coming off a 117-92 setback at Atlanta on Monday.
The Raptors were led by Voshon Lenard, Morris Peterson and Alvin Williams, each of whom scored 17 points. Greg Foster added 11 points and Jerome Williams finished with 10 as the Raptors lost their second straight and fell to 1-4 on the road.
Toronto is 3-2 at home this season and 3-2 versus the East, including a 1-2 mark within their own division.
The Pacers and Raptors met back on November 9 at Conseco Fieldhouse, with Indiana claiming a 108-84 victory. The win was the second straight in the series for the Pacers after dropping seven in a row.
Indiana has lost its last four games at Toronto.
