Auburn Hills, MI (My Sportsbook) - The
Detroit Pistons hope to remain unbeaten at home on Wednesday when they welcome the
Miami Heat to the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Detroit is 5-0 in its own building this year and is one of seven teams in the league with a perfect home mark.
The Pistons had a three-game winning streak halted in their last outing, a 94-91 setback at New York Monday.
Richard Hamilton led all scorers with 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting for the Pistons, including 2-of-2 from behind the arc. Clifford Robinson scored 19 points, while Ben Wallace had 11 points and a game-high 21 rebounds for Detroit.
The Knicks led by as many as 32 points in the third quarter, and by 22 after three periods, but were outscored by Detroit 31-12 in the fourth.
A dunk by Hamilton pulled Detroit within one at 92-91. Sprewell was then fouled with just under five seconds left and he hit both foul shots for the 94-91 lead. New York's Clarence Weatherspoon stole the inbounds pass and dribbled out the victory.
Guard Chauncey Billups left Monday's game after twisting his right ankle and is not expected to play in Wednesday's affair. Chucky Atkins would start in his spot.
The Heat put an end to a five-game slide on Tuesday, besting the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center, 97-93.
Eddie Jones scored 22 and rookie Caron Butler added a season-high 20 as the Heat survived a late challenge and held on for the victory.
Travis Best chipped in 19 points and Malik Allen scored 16 and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Heat, who won for just the second time in nine games this season and earned their first road win of the campaign.
Miami is now 1-2 on the road and 1-5 against the Eastern Conference.
The Pistons took two of three meetings with the Heat last season, winning once at home and on the road. However, Miami has claimed five of the last seven tilts with Detroit overall. The Heat have also won three of their last four in Auburn Hills.
