San Antonio, TX (My Sportsbook) - The
San Antonio Spurs seek their third straight win on Wednesday when they host the reeling
Los Angeles Lakers at the SBC Center.
The Spurs are coming off back-to-back wins over the Cleveland Cavaliers after dropping their previous two games. Most recently, San Antonio posted a 104-78 home victory over the Cavs on Monday.
Tim Duncan scored 25 points and hauled in nine rebounds to lead the Spurs. Duncan hit on 9-of-16 field goal attempts, and made all seven of his free throws.
Stephen Jackson scored 18 points off the bench, and Steve Smith and Kevin Willis each added 12 as the Spurs improved to 4-1 at home this season.
San Antonio owns a 4-2 mark against the Western Conference.
The Lakers have dropped two in a row and six of their last seven to hover near the bottom of the Pacific Division at 3-8. LA is coming off a 98-72 setback to the unbeaten Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
Kobe Bryant paced Los Angeles with 16 points. Rick Fox netted 11 points and Robert Horry added 10 for the Lakers, who shot only 30.8 percent from the floor (28-of-91) -- a franchise low.
LA is just 1-4 on the road this season and 3-3 against Western Conference foes.
But there is good news on the horizon for the Lakers, as Shaquille O'Neal (toe) is expected to see his first action of the season Friday against Chicago.
The Lakers and Spurs met in the season opener on October 29, with San Antonio claiming an 87-82 win at Staples Center.
However, Los Angeles captured three of four meetings with the Spurs in last year's regular season before beating San Antonio in five games in the Western Conference semifinals. The Lakers have dropped five of their last seven regular season contests at San Antonio.
