Sandy, UT (My Sportsbook) - Real Salt Lake's playoff push got a big boost on Wednesday at Rio Tinto Stadium as Robbie Findley came off the bench to score twice in the second half of a 4-0 RSL win over Chivas USA. The win allows Salt Lake to move to within three points of third-placed sides Chivas and Seattle in the Western Conference, while the Goats have now lost six of their last eight games. Pablo Campos opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, while Fabian Espindola added a second goal with 15 minutes to play before Findley notched two goals in the final five minutes. Chivas goalkeeper Zach Thornton was called upon nine minutes into the match as he first came off his line to stop a shot from Campos before scrambling back into the net to turn aside Will Johnson's rebound attempt. The best chance for Chivas in the first half arrived in the 23rd minute when Jesus Padilla's volley was tipped around the post by goalkeeper Nick Rimando, while Thornton produced another big stop in the 38th minute, this time on Espindola. However, the home side moved in front two minutes before the break as Espindola's left-wing cross found an open Campos in front of goal and he turned a header inside the right post. Johnson came within inches of doubling the lead for the hosts as he shot wide from 14 yards, but a nice individual effort from Espindola handed RSL a two- goal lead with 15 minutes remaining. The Argentine picked up the ball on the left wing and found plenty of space, allowing him to get into the box and smash a shot past substitute goalkeeper Lance Parker, who took over for an injured Thornton at halftime. Findley then secured the points in the last five minutes with a pair of goals that take his tally on the season to 10.
