Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Miami Heat remained busy this offseason with the signing of free agent guard Wesley Person. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Person joins Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Doleac, Keyon Dooling and Damon Jones on the new-look 2004-05 Heat, who will aim to improve upon last season's Eastern Conference semifinal appearance. The 33-year-old Person is coming off the least productive of his 10 NBA seasons, averaging 5.8 points in 58 appearances for the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers and Atlanta Hawks. He did, however, rank 16th in the league in three-point field goal percentage at .399 percent. "Wesley Person has proven throughout his career that he is one of the best and most reliable shooters in this league," said head coach Stan Van Gundy. The 6-foot-6, 198-pound Person has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers after his career at Auburn University. In 692 games, he owns per-game averages of 11.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists. Person has also connected on .416 percent of his career attempts from beyond the arc. He has started 19 of 23 lifetime postseason contests.
