Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - The Detroit Tigers trimmed their roster to 40 players on Wednesday and by doing so unconditionally released infielder Damian Jackson. The 29-year-old Jackson was acquired from San Diego on March 23 in a four- player deal and batted .257 in 81 games with the Tigers. "We were in a position to try to trade him but we couldn't work any deals out," general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "We have a lot of middle infielders, some young guys with Omar Infante and Ramon Santiago. We still have Shane Halter and Damion Easley. We have a lot of depth at that position. We felt at that position it was where we had to make some tough decisions." Also removed from the Tigers' roster were pitchers Jeff Farnsworth, Matt Miller and Adam Pettyjohn. All of them were outrighted to Triple-A Toledo after clearing waivers. Joining the 40-man roster are outfielders Cody Ross and Nook Logan plus right- hander Jorge Cordova.
