Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - The Yankees scored three runs in the fourth to back six-plus solid innings from Andy Pettitte, and New York stamped its ticket to the World Series with a 5-2 win over the Angels in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. In a contest that was postponed from Saturday thanks to heavy rain, Pettitte (2-0) allowed just one run on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings, and struck out six. The veteran left-hander became the winningest pitcher in postseason history in the process, getting his 16th to break a tie with John Smoltz. Mariano Rivera converted a six-out save to preserve the win, as the Yankees tacked on two runs in the eighth. Johnny Damon finished with two hits, including a bases-loaded, two-run single in the fourth. Alex Rodriguez also had two hits, but it was his bases-loaded walk later in the fourth that provided the eventual game-winning run for the Yankees, who last reached the World Series in 2003. New York is now back in the Fall Classic in search of its 27th title, and will begin that quest Wednesday at home against Philadelphia.
