Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The
Colorado Avalanche will try and get back on the winning track tonight when they host the
Nashville Predators at the Pepsi Center.
The Avalanche come into tonight's contest on the heels of a two-game winless string (0-1-1), including a 4-4 tie with the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday.
Milan Hejduk tallied two power-play goals and collected an assist for Colorado in the deadlock.
Joe Sakic added a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, who rallied from a two-goal deficit in the second period and have lost just once in their last four tries (2-1-1). Patrick Roy made 27 saves for Colorado.
Sakic, who is five goals away from 500, tops the team and is tied for the league lead with 12 goals. He also has 12 assists to pace the Avs with 24 points.
Colorado has not fared well on its home ice this year and is just 1-4-3-1 on the year in Denver.
Nashville comes into tonight's tilt winless in its last four (0-3-1) after a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
Nashville center Vernon Fiddler, playing in his fifth NHL game, had a goal and an assist for his first career points. Clarke Wilm had the other goal for the Predators, who remained stuck on two wins this season (2-9-3-4).
Mike Dunham replaced Tomas Vokoun at the 10:10 mark of the second period and finished with six saves, while Vokoun stopped nine of the 12 shots he faced for the Preds, who fell to 1-5-2-4 on the road this season.
Nashville finished 0-for-6 on the power play and is without a goal in its last 15 chances with the extra skater.
This is the third meeting of the season between these teams, as the Predators picked up a victory in Denver on November 10 before the two skated to a 3-1 tie four days later.
Colorado, however, has won three of the last four matchups, but Nashville has taken two of the last three in the Avs' rink.
