Calgary, Alberta (My Sportsbook) - The
Calgary Flames will try and put the brakes on a six- game losing streak tonight when they welcome the
Edmonton Oilers to the Saddledome.
After back-to-back road victories over the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils, the Flames have dropped six in a row and have been blanked four times in that span, while getting outscored 9-2.
Its latest setback came on Tuesday when Calgary was blanked 5-0 by the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.
Jamie McLennan finished with 30 saves for the Flames, who dropped to 0-3-0 on their current five-game homestand and are just 1-5-3-1 in Calgary on the year.
Calgary, which was blanked 1-0 against St. Louis on Saturday, is currently riding a scoreless streak of 160 minutes, 39 seconds, dating back to the first period of last Thursday's game against the Rangers.
The Flames' best chance of a score on Tuesday came in the final 20 minutes, as Detroit netminder Curtis Joseph was caught 30 feet out of his net without a stick, but still managed to play the angle on last year's leading scorer Jarome Iginla, who shot at a nearly open net.
Calgary was 0-for-4 on the power play and is scoreless during 20 chances with the man-advantage during its slide. The Flames have tallied just once in their last 31 times with the extra skater and have not lit the lamp on the power play since Craig Conroy scored in the first period against the Islanders back on November 4.
Edmonton comes into Thursday's game after a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
Steve Staios and Ethan Moreau each scored a short-handed goal in the first period to pace Edmonton. Ryan Smyth also scored for the Oilers, who have won three of their last four games (3-1).
Tommy Salo made 28 saves for Edmonton, which is 4-5-1 on the road this year.
Edmonton is 2-1-1 in the last four meetings, 7-2-2 in the last 11 and 7-5-2 in the last 14 matchups. The Oilers, though, are winless in their last two in Calgary (0-1-1), but are 3-1-2 in the last six on the Flames' ice.
