Huntington, WV (My Sportsbook) - Marshall head football coach Mark Snyder announced his intention to resign Sunday. Snyder said he met with athletic director Mike Hamrick on Sunday to discuss the football program, and felt it was in the program's best interest for him to resign. "It has been an honor to be the coach here and I will always be appreciative of the opportunity my university gave me," Snyder said. Snyder, a 1988 Marshall graduate, guided the Thundering Herd to a 22-37 record over his five seasons as head coach. They ended their 2009 season with a loss to UTEP on Saturday to fall to 6-6. "I want to thank Mark for his five years of service to Marshall University," Hamrick said. "He is a Marshall guy and we wish him the best in his future endeavors." In 2006, Snyder had signed a contract extension that ran through the 2013 campaign.
